From here, you can take two magnificent routes: either via the "Pueblos Blancos" (White Villages), leading you to contemplate the wonders of the Grazalema Natural Park or, the wine route, which takes you to Jerez.
Located on the banks of the Guadalete, this Parador, formerly the Casa del Corregidor, has an impressive panoramic view of the fertile plain of the river and of the old area of Arcos de la Frontera. The bedrooms with terraces offer magnificent views of Arcos and, inside the typical Andalusian courtyard, there are traditional decorative features such as latticework and ceramic tiles. The Parador has fifteen twin bedrooms, five double rooms and four single bedrooms all with satellite TV, telephone, safe and mini bar. Facilities include air conditioning, heating, restaurant, bar, elevator, piped music and a shop. The restaurants of the Parador group hotels offer a variety of dishes including a selection of local and regional specialities. They also offer a diabetic, vegetarian and gluten free option. In addition, the restaurant at this Parador usually has a 'tasting menu' where an eleven course meal is served with guests sampling the various dishes of the region. In Arcos de la Frontera you should visit the Santa Maria and San Pedro churches, the Castle and the Palace, the Art Gallery, and the carpet factory. The Easter celebrations at Arcos, have been declared of "International Touristic Interest". Also worth visiting is the traditional "Aleluya bull burial", which takes place on Resurrection Day and the Horse Fair in Jerez de la Frontera, approximately 20 miles from the Parador. The Sierras (Mountains) de Grazalema Natural Park, and the Arcos Lake, are ideal for hiking, horse riding or flying in parapente. For golfers there are also a number of courses in the area. The nearest airport is approximately 35 kilometers from the Parador. The nearest railway station is approximately 35 kilometers from the Parador. The nearest port is approximately 70 kilometers from the Parador. Pets are not allowed in the Spanish Paradores. A former palace with panoramic views in Arcos de la Frontera is now a hotel in the Parador Group. |
