Historic building converted to a 4 star Parador hotel at 26 kms from the capital of Spain, Madrid The Parador of Alcala de Henares occupies a magnificent 17th century building, the ancient Dominican Collegiate-Convent of Santo Tomas de Aquino.
The Hosteria del Estudiante is located in the ancient Colegio Menor de San Jeronimo, founded by Cardinal Cisneros in 1510, and has marvellous views of the Patio Trilingue of the Alcala de Henares university. Together they form part of the monumental collection of the city of Alcala de Henares, declared a World Heritage Site by UNESCO in 1998.The Hosteria offers a varied menu with many references to Cervantine Cuisine.
Some of the local specialties worth trying include:”cocido madrileño”a dish based on boiled meat and vegetables;
”asados” which are various types of roast meat;
"costrada" being a almond and puff pastry dessert;
