This Parador is located in the historical town of Tui ( Tuy ) bordering with Portugal. With its granite walls and use of chestnut wood on the floors, ceilings, beams and staircases it is a recreation of the typical Galician country houses.
The comfortable bedrooms are decorated with soft shades and rustic furniture achieving a friendly and peaceful atmosphere. You will also find a splendid swimming pool and a beautiful garden. The food offered to you by the Parador restaurant is a real pleasure to experience the various dishes from this region. Veal, fishes and seafood from the nearby estuary, exquisite lampreys Tui style, eels with garlic, carmel pudding and 'pececitos' from the convent nuns.. are some of the recommended dishes. In Tui visit the cathedral, the churches of San Bartolome, San Francisco and San Telmo, and the Bishop's palace. If you cross the Mino river and the border to Portugal you may visit the near-by walled city of Valenca do Minho. The feasts of Tui vary throughout the year. In February you may take part in the Carnival celebrations then in Easter celebrate San Telmo's day. In August participate in the international canoeing descent of the Mino river. This establishment is ideal for the lovers of sport and nature as it is surrounded by opportunities to participate in numerous activities. Explore the wonderful Natural Park of Monte Aloia, Mount Santa Tecla, or the charming Cies Islands. In this environment you can hike, follow 4x4 or horse routes, fly in a hang-glider or microlight, canoeing, rafting, water skiing in the Mino or you can also swim or play tennis in the facilities of the Parador. The accommodation in this hotel of the Paradors group is in nineteen twin bedded rooms, seven rooms with a double bed, two single rooms and two suites. In the rooms you will find a telephone, television, satellite, and a mini bar. The Parador has central heating, a restaurant and bar. Pets are not allowed in the luxury hotels in the Spanish Paradores group. Parador de Tui in a typical manor house of Galicia now converted into a three star hotel. |
